Buri is a municipality in the southwest of São Paulo state, in a region of gentle hills, pasture, forestry plantations and crop fields. The town itself is small and compact. Its urban area forms a fairly regular block of streets that stands out clearly against the wide rural land around it.
From above, the centre follows a simple grid, with a main square and a church near the middle, as in many towns in the interior of São Paulo. Toward the edges the pattern loosens, and roads leave in several directions to link Buri with neighbouring municipalities and outlying farms.
