Te mapa
Caldas da Rainha, the queen's hot springs, takes its name from Queen Leonor, who founded a thermal hospital here in the late fifteenth century after bathing in the local sulphurous waters. The old hospital and the springs still sit at the heart of the town's map, next to the large, leafy Parque D. Carlos I.
Around this core the streets fan out in a mix of older, curving lanes and later straight avenues. The central Praça da República, known locally as the Praça da Fruta, hosts a daily open-air market, and its rectangle is easy to pick out among the surrounding blocks.
The town is also known for ceramics, especially the work associated with Rafael Bordallo Pinheiro. To the northwest, the Lagoa de Óbidos opens toward the Atlantic. A Caldas da Rainha map poster sets the town between park, market square and coastal plain.

The central square where a fruit and vegetable market is held every day, a clear rectangle in the street plan that locals treat as the town's meeting point.
Roads lead northwest toward the Lagoa de Óbidos and the coast, drawing the town's outer edges out into the agricultural land of the Oeste region.
