Te mapa
Capitán Bermúdez lies on the western bank of the Paraná in Santa Fe province, part of the continuous urban corridor that runs north from Rosario toward San Lorenzo. On the map it forms a dense grid of square blocks, typical of Argentine towns, that runs to the edge of the river bluffs. The wide Paraná and its island-strewn delta fill the eastern side of the sheet.
The town takes its name from Captain Justo Bermúdez, who died after the Battle of San Lorenzo in 1813, the first engagement of José de San Martín's Regiment of Mounted Grenadiers. Its twentieth-century growth came with industry along the riverbank, including a large paper and cellulose plant, and with the railways serving the Paraná ports.
A Capitán Bermúdez map poster captures the classic structure of a Paraná river town. The regular grid extends inland in neat rows, and railway tracks and main avenues cut through it in long lines. At the riverfront the pattern gives way to the large footprints of industrial sites and the soft outlines of the water and islands beyond.
The broad, powerful river runs along the town's eastern edge, and the channels and islands of the delta on the opposite side form an intricate natural pattern.
Streets follow the regular grid of square blocks found throughout the Argentine pampas, giving the town an orderly, even texture across most of the sheet.
Large industrial plots line parts of the riverfront. Their big rectangular footprints and internal roads interrupt the grid where the town meets the water.
