Te mapa
Carrigaline lies in County Cork, a short distance south of Cork city, where the Owenabue river widens into an estuary on its way to Cork Harbour. The map shows a town that has grown well beyond its original main street, with residential estates spreading across the surrounding slopes in loops and crescents around a compact centre.
The estuary is the defining natural feature: a broadening channel with mudflats and tidal edges that runs east toward Crosshaven and the harbour mouth. A walkway follows part of the shore, and the water opens up the eastern side of the map, in contrast to the dense housing to the north and south.
Once known for its pottery, Carrigaline has become one of the larger towns in the Cork area, shaped by commuting and new housing. A Carrigaline map poster records that growth: the old core by the river, the estates on the hills and the tidal water leading out toward the coast.
The river broadens into a tidal estuary east of the town, forming a wide, flowing shape that leads the eye toward Cork Harbour.
The original town centre runs along the river crossing, a small, linear core now surrounded on all sides by much later development.
Residential estates on the surrounding slopes are laid out in curving roads and cul-de-sacs, creating a soft, looping texture around the centre.

Koteā ko Carrigaline
Carrigaline suits families who have settled in one of its estates, people who grew up by the estuary, and Cork natives living elsewhere. The map captures a familiar local shape: the river, the hills and the road down to the harbour.
