Te mapa
Centre de Flacq is the main town of Flacq, the largest district of Mauritius, on the island's eastern side. It sits a short way inland from the coast, in a landscape long dominated by sugar cane. From above, the main roads converge on a compact centre. Residential streets surround it, and then, abruptly, the regular patchwork of cane fields that covers much of the district.
The town is known for its market, one of the busiest on the island, which draws traders and shoppers from across the east. Roads leading out of Centre de Flacq connect to Poste de Flacq, the coastal villages and the resorts along the eastern shore with its lagoon and reefs. Rivers running toward the sea cut small valleys through the surrounding land.
A Centre de Flacq map poster shows the town as the hub of eastern Mauritius, with its streets knotted together at the centre and roads fanning out through the fields. It will speak to Mauritians at home and abroad, and to visitors who stayed on the east coast and passed through on market day. The island's intricate road pattern looks especially good in monochrome.
Main roads meet at the heart of town around the market area. This is the densest part of the map and the natural focal point of the poster.
Around the town, the field boundaries and access tracks of the sugar estates make a fine, regular pattern that fills the outer areas of the poster.
Several roads lead east from the town toward Poste de Flacq and the lagoon shore, tracing the short journey from the island's interior to the sea.

The Mauritian diaspora is spread across Europe, Australia and beyond, and a map of the home town is a simple way to stay connected. For others, the poster recalls a holiday on the east coast and the drive through Flacq.
