Te mapa
Chacabuco sits in the northwest of Buenos Aires province, in the flat, fertile country of the pampas. From above, it follows the classic Argentine plan: a regular grid of square blocks centred on a main plaza, with streets running out evenly in every direction until they meet the open fields. National Route 7 passes nearby, linking the town with Buenos Aires and the west.
The town takes its name from the Battle of Chacabuco in 1817, a key victory in the South American wars of independence. Its economy is closely tied to agriculture, with grain and cattle across the surrounding land. The railway also shaped its growth, bringing the town into the network that served the pampas.
A Chacabuco map poster is almost pure geometry. The grid, the central plaza, the diagonal of a road or rail line, and then the flat land beyond. Minimalist prints suit this kind of plan particularly well, and the square blocks make a strong pattern at any size.
A main square sits at the centre of the grid, the reference point from which the town's straight streets extend outward.
Streets form an even grid of square blocks, a planning pattern shared by many towns of the pampas and striking from above.
The national highway passes the town, a long straight line across flat land connecting Chacabuco with Buenos Aires and the provinces to the west.
