Chantilly is a community in western Fairfax County, Virginia, just south of Washington Dulles International Airport. From above, it is defined by major roads. Route 50 and Route 28 cross the area, and around them sit large commercial districts, office parks and suburban neighbourhoods of curving streets and cul-de-sacs.
Chantilly is home to the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center, the large companion facility of the Smithsonian's National Air and Space Museum. The center houses aircraft and spacecraft including the Space Shuttle Discovery. The area also saw fighting during the Civil War, at the Battle of Chantilly in 1862.
