Te mapa
Hampton sits near the eastern end of the Virginia Peninsula, where the James River, Hampton Roads and Chesapeake Bay meet. English colonists settled here in 1610, which makes it one of the oldest continuously settled English communities in the United States. On a map, the city is defined by water. Creeks, inlets and the Hampton River cut deep into the land from almost every side.
At the city's southeastern point, Fort Monroe occupies Old Point Comfort, and its moated, star-shaped outline is easy to pick out. From there, the Hampton Roads Bridge-Tunnel carries Interstate 64 across the water toward Norfolk. Inland, suburban streets fill the space between the waterways, while large blocks mark Langley Air Force Base and NASA Langley Research Center.
A Hampton map poster turns this maze of shoreline into a detailed, balanced composition. Hampton University sits beside the Hampton River near the downtown waterfront, and the harbour there still reflects the city's long relationship with the bay, from fishing to shipbuilding to aviation research.
The moated, star-shaped fort at Old Point Comfort is one of the most distinctive shapes on the map and marks the city's southeastern tip.
Interstate 64 heads out over the water and dives under the channel, drawing a straight line from Hampton toward Norfolk.
Dozens of creeks and inlets break up the land into irregular pieces, so the waterline is intricate almost everywhere in the frame.

Hampton means a lot to service members, NASA staff, Hampton University graduates and families who have lived by the water for generations. A map poster brings together the fort, the creeks and your own street.
