Te mapa
Chrang Chamreh Muoy is an urban district on the northern side of Phnom Penh, in the stretch where the city follows the Tonle Sap river upstream. From above, it has a long, narrow shape. The river runs on one side and the main road leaving the capital runs on the other, with houses, workshops and small streets packed into the land between them.
The pattern is typical of Phnom Penh's riverside growth. Short lanes run from the main road down towards the water, forming a series of parallel strips rather than a grid. Along the bank, land and river meet in an irregular line, which in the wet season shifts with the height of the water.
A Chrang Chamreh Muoy map poster shows this ribbon form clearly. The wide river takes up a large part of the frame, and the built-up band along it is drawn in fine detail. It is an unusual subject that feels calm and open, framed by water.
The river forms the district's long edge. Its broad, smooth surface contrasts with the dense, fine-grained streets along the shore, and gives the poster a strong horizontal line.
A main road runs roughly parallel to the river. Together they set the district's shape: a narrow band of settlement held between two long lines.
Short lanes branch from the road towards the river at regular intervals, like the teeth of a comb. This pattern is the district's clearest structural feature.
