Te mapa
Ciudad Piar sits on the broad savanna of northern Bolívar state, south of the Orinoco. The town is tied to the iron ore of the surrounding region, around Cerro Bolívar, and its layout reflects a place planned for work: a regular grid of streets, a few main avenues and a clear boundary where the houses stop and the grassland begins.
From above the contrast is striking. The street network is tight and orderly, while the land around it is almost empty, cut only by roads leading out toward the mining areas and scattered watercourses. The town takes its name from Manuel Piar, a general of the Venezuelan independence wars born on Curaçao.
In black and white, that simplicity becomes the whole point of the composition. A Ciudad Piar map poster shows a single, legible settlement surrounded by wide open space, a portrait of a working town in a large landscape rather than a sprawling city.
The centre follows a regular grid, giving the map an even, rhythmic texture of blocks that stands out sharply against the unbuilt land on every side.
Beyond the last streets the map opens into grassland and low relief, so the town appears as a compact island of lines within a large quiet field.
A handful of roads leave the town toward the iron-mining country of the region, drawing long single strokes across the otherwise empty surroundings.
