Consolacion lies on the eastern coast of Cebu island, just north of Mandaue and inside Metro Cebu. The town stretches between the shallow coastal waters and the hills of the island's interior. On a map the built-up area forms a band along the coastal highway, with lanes branching inland that thin out as the ground rises.
In places the shoreline is lined with mangroves and fishponds, which appear as irregular, finely divided shapes at the water's edge. Inland the network is looser, with subdivisions and villages spread across the slopes. The town has grown quickly as part of the Cebu metropolitan area, and new roads and housing keep filling the space between older settlements.
