Te mapa
Coria del Río lies on the west bank of the Guadalquivir, a short distance downstream from Seville. The river is the strongest element on the map. It is a wide, smooth band of water running along the town's eastern edge, and the streets of the old quarter climb gently from the riverbank toward the higher ground of the Aljarafe plateau.
A ferry still carries people and cars across the river here, since there is no bridge at the town. South and east of the river, the land flattens into the marshes and rice fields of the lower Guadalquivir. They show as broad regular plots with long drainage channels. In the other direction, the town gives way to the olive groves and villages of the Aljarafe.
A Coria del Río map poster frames one of the most unusual stories in Andalusia. In the early seventeenth century, members of a Japanese embassy led by Hasekura Tsunenaga passed through, and some stayed. Hundreds of residents today carry the surname Japón. A statue of Hasekura stands by the river.
The river runs broad and straight along the town. It forms a large, calm band of water that anchors the whole composition.
Without a bridge at Coria, a ferry links the two banks. It is a small detail that says a lot about the town's relationship with the river.
Across the water, the flat lower Guadalquivir is divided into large, regular fields and channels. They contrast with the irregular old streets.

Koteā ko Coria del Río
The map means something to people from Coria, to those who love the Guadalquivir and to anyone interested in the long link between Spain and Japan. It is a place with a story that is visible right on the riverbank.
Personalise the title and subtitle, perhaps in Spanish or Japanese, and edit the coordinates line. The five styles are Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand. Blueprint shows the river and marsh plots especially clearly.
