Corroios lies in the municipality of Seixal, on the south bank of the Tagus estuary, close to the border with Almada. Its northern edge touches the tidal waters of the Seixal bay, where small creeks and marshland create an irregular shoreline. On a map this soft, watery margin contrasts with the tighter pattern of the residential neighbourhoods behind it.
One of the area's best-known features is the Corroios tide mill, a historic mill that used the rise and fall of the estuary to turn its wheels. It stands by the water, where the marshes and creeks meet the bay. Further inland, the Fertagus railway line crosses the area, linking Corroios with Lisbon over the 25 de Abril Bridge.
A Corroios map poster shows a suburb shaped by both water and commuting. The railway and main roads give the composition firm lines, the neighbourhoods fill the spaces between with dense texture, and the tidal creeks along the northern edge add fine, branching shapes. In black and white the marsh and the town come together in a distinctive, balanced image.

The railway runs through the area toward Lisbon, a straight, firm line that links Corroios to the capital across the Tagus.
