Te mapa
Cotoca lies just east of Santa Cruz de la Sierra in Bolivia's eastern lowlands, close enough that the city's growth is starting to reach it. On a map it has its own clear identity. A regular grid of blocks surrounds a central square, with roads leading west toward Santa Cruz and east across flat farmland toward the Río Grande.
The town is best known for the sanctuary of the Virgen de Cotoca, a major religious site for eastern Bolivia. Every year, around 8 December, large numbers of pilgrims travel from Santa Cruz to the town, many on foot along the road between them. The main square and sanctuary form the heart of the town.
A Cotoca map poster shows a small but distinct place: the grid around its plaza, the road toward the city, and the open lowland beyond. In monochrome, the plan is balanced and legible, with a clear centre that reflects the town's role as a destination for pilgrims.
The central plaza with the sanctuary of the Virgen de Cotoca is the town's focal point. On the print it sits at the heart of a regular grid.
The main road runs west to Santa Cruz de la Sierra and is followed by pilgrims each December. It appears as a strong line leaving the grid.
Flat farmland and scattered vegetation spread east of town toward the Río Grande. The open country frames Cotoca's compact plan on the map.

Koteā ko Cotoca
For Cruceños, Cotoca often means a family pilgrimage or a weekend visit, and for people who live there it is simply home. A map of the town keeps those memories in a clean, simple form.
