Daisen Map Poster & Print

Daisen occupies part of the Senboku Plain in Akita Prefecture, a broad basin of rice paddies ringed by mountains. The city was formed in 2005 by merging Omagari with several neighbouring towns and villages, so its map combines a compact urban core with scattered rural settlements. Rivers wind across the plain, and the Omono River runs past the centre.

Omagari is famous across Japan for the National Fireworks Competition, held each summer on the banks of the Omono River, where master pyrotechnicians compete in front of large crowds. The surrounding land is some of the most productive rice country in Tohoku, and the pattern of paddies gives the map its fine, regular texture.

A Daisen map poster shows the neat grid of fields, the bends of the rivers and the denser streets of Omagari in one balanced composition. It is a natural choice for people from Akita and for anyone who has watched the fireworks over the river on a late-summer evening.

Omono River

The river curves past the centre of Omagari, its broad banks home to the annual fireworks competition and a strong, flowing line on the poster.

02

Paddy field pattern

Rice paddies cover the plain in small rectangular plots, creating a regular, finely divided texture around the town and its outlying villages.

03

Omagari centre

The former town of Omagari forms the densest part of the map, with a station area and streets gathered close to the river.

Koteā ko Daisen

He mapa ʻe maʻuhiga

A map of Daisen recalls long summer evenings by the river and the quiet order of the rice fields. It is a gentle, understated image that suits Japanese interiors and minimal rooms elsewhere.

Title it with the city's name or a festival year, add a subtitle, and choose one of five styles. Paper and Sand suit the rural landscape. Download HD files for $9, or order a framed print.
