Te mapa
Danao lies on the eastern coast of Cebu, north of Cebu City, on a narrow strip of flat land between the Camotes Sea and the island's mountainous interior. From above the built-up area hugs the shore, with the main road running parallel to the coast and streets reaching inland only as far as the terrain allows before the hills take over.
The city's port is the main departure point for ferries to the Camotes Islands, and the harbour forms a clear, compact shape on the waterfront. Rivers descend from the hills across the coastal plain, and the town centre gathers close to the sea around its plaza and church, following the pattern of many Spanish-era Philippine towns.
Danao is also widely known for its long tradition of small-scale gunsmithing, a craft that has shaped its reputation in the Philippines. A Danao map poster focuses instead on geography: the coast road, the harbour, the tight town centre and the rising slopes that give this part of Cebu its shape.
The main road follows the shoreline north from Cebu City, a long, steady line that ties the city's neighbourhoods together along the coast.
The harbour and its piers extend into the Camotes Sea, the starting point for boats to the Camotes Islands and a sharp geometric detail on the waterfront.
Inland, steep green hills rise quickly behind the plain, where streets give way to winding roads and scattered barangays across the slopes.
