Te mapa
Dar lies in Tboung Khmum province in eastern Cambodia, in the region between the Mekong and the Vietnamese border. The landscape here is a low plateau of red soil, historically known for large rubber plantations. From above, those plantations show as big blocks of evenly planted trees, cut through by straight service roads.
The settlement itself is modest. Houses line the main roads, and small lanes branch off towards gardens and farmland. Unlike the dense river towns of the Mekong plain, the pattern here is spread out. Clusters of homes, plantation roads and fields are woven together over a wide area.
A Dar map poster reflects that open, agricultural structure. Long straight roads, the regular grids of plantation blocks and the looser village streets create a composition that is mostly geometric, with softer lines where streams and low ground break the pattern.
Large, regularly planted estates cover much of the surrounding land. Their straight edges and internal roads give the map a strong, orderly geometry.
Homes follow the main roads in long lines, with short lanes leading off to either side. The settlement reads as a series of ribbons rather than a single centre.
The gently rolling land of eastern Cambodia stretches away on all sides. Small streams and low-lying ground add a few soft curves among the straight lines.
