Te mapa
Dayr Mawās is a town in Minya Governorate in Middle Egypt, set in the narrow green band of the Nile Valley. From above, the map shows a dense cluster of streets and houses surrounded by irrigated fields, with canals and field boundaries tracing fine lines across the farmland. Desert edges lie beyond the cultivated land on both sides of the valley.
The town is associated with the ancient site of Tell el-Amarna, the city built by the pharaoh Akhenaten, which lies across the Nile on the east bank. Visitors to the ruins have long passed through this area on their way to the river crossing. Today Dayr Mawās itself is a working agricultural town, shaped by the rhythm of the valley.
A Dayr Mawās map poster captures the contrast between the tightly packed town, the geometry of canals and fields, and the strong curve of the Nile. It is an elegant, linear composition in which water and cultivation define almost every line, suited to anyone drawn to Egypt beyond its famous cities.
The river runs close to the town, and its broad curve gives the map a clear natural axis, with farmland following the water on both banks.
Canals and field boundaries cross the cultivated land in fine, mostly straight lines, forming a delicate grid around the denser streets of the town.
Across the Nile lies the plain of Tell el-Amarna, Akhenaten's ancient capital, placing this modest town beside one of Egypt's most intriguing archaeological sites.
