Te mapa
Diamante sits on the left bank of the Paraná in Entre Ríos province, on the high bluffs known locally as barrancas. The town follows the regular Argentine grid of square blocks and a central plaza, but its western edge is anything but regular. The ground drops sharply to the river, and below the bluffs the map breaks into channels, islands and wetland.
That contrast between a ruled grid on the tableland and the loose water below is what makes the map striking. The Pre-Delta National Park lies just south of the town, protecting a stretch of islands and lagoons where the Paraná begins to spread into its delta. A small port and the riverside roads sit in between.
A Diamante map poster captures the moment where the order of the town gives way to the drift of the river. The town is also known for its national gaucho horsemanship and folk festival, held every summer.
The grid runs right to the edge of the high bluffs above the Paraná. There the regular blocks stop, and the drop to the river marks a sharp western boundary.
Below the town, the river splits around long islands into several channels and lagoons. On the poster they become soft, flowing shapes set against the grid.
The Pre-Delta National Park lies just south of the town. Its islands and marshes fill that part of the map with fine, organic water lines.
