Te mapa
Diglipur is the main town of North Andaman Island, in the Indian union territory of Andaman and Nicobar. It is known as the base for Saddle Peak, the highest point in the Andaman Islands, and for the Kalpong River, often described as the only river on the islands.
From above, the town is small, with scattered streets and settlements set among forest and farmland. The coast is deeply indented, with creeks and mangroves reaching inland. Offshore lie Ross and Smith islands, joined by a narrow sandbar that becomes a thin line on the map.
A Diglipur map poster captures a remote, green corner of India, where forest, hills and coastline meet. It is a fitting keepsake for island residents, for families who settled here, or for travellers who made the long journey north from Port Blair.
The highest summit in the Andaman Islands rises near the town, its forested slopes forming a large, quiet area on the map with few roads crossing it.
Two small islands off the coast are connected by a narrow natural sandbar, a delicate line of land that is one of the most distinctive shapes in the area.
The river winds through the northern part of the island toward the sea, adding a soft, irregular line to a landscape of forest and creeks.
