Te mapa
Dohār lies in Dhaka District, southwest of the capital, on the northern bank of the Padma, one of the great rivers of Bangladesh. It is an area of villages, market towns and farmland, and like much of the delta it is shaped by water: the river's width, its seasonal floods and the sandbars, known as chars, that appear and shift from year to year.
From above, the settled land is a network of small roads, village clusters, ponds and field boundaries, crossed by channels that link back to the river. The Padma's bank forms the strongest line on the map, broad and irregular, with the chars showing as islands of land in the middle of the water.
A Dohār map poster captures a landscape where the river's edge is never fixed. The town's streets and markets sit on higher ground away from the water, while the lower land around them follows the rhythm of the monsoon. In black and white, the contrast between dense villages and wide open river makes for a clear, calm composition.
The wide Padma runs along the edge of the upazila. Its broad, uneven shoreline is the most prominent feature on the map.
Sandbars and islands appear in the river channel. Their shapes change over time, so each map captures one moment in a moving landscape.
Small roads link a close pattern of villages, ponds and fields, typical of the densely settled countryside around Dhaka.
