Te mapa
Dugulubgey is a large rural settlement in the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic, in the North Caucasus of Russia. It lies in the Baksan district, near the town of Baksan and the river of the same name. It stands on the broad lower plain where the river leaves the mountains behind. The land here is flat and farmed, with the Caucasus rising to the south.
Like many villages in Kabardino-Balkaria, Dugulubgey is laid out on a clear plan. From above, long straight streets run in parallel lines with cross streets between them, creating large blocks of houses and gardens. The pattern is wide and regular, and the village spreads over a surprising area for a rural settlement.
A Dugulubgey map poster shows that order clearly: repeated streets, deep garden plots and the river valley nearby. It is a portrait of village life in the North Caucasus, drawn with the attention usually reserved for cities.
Long, straight streets run side by side across the village and form large regular blocks, a distinctive feature of settlements in this region.
Deep household plots fill each block, so the map shows wide spaces between the street lines rather than dense building.
The Baksan River runs nearby as it leaves the mountains, linking the village to the town of Baksan and the valleys farther south.
