Te mapa
Dutsen Wai lies in Kaduna State in northern Nigeria, in the Kubau area, where the savanna opens into broad farmland dotted with trees and occasional rocky outcrops. The name draws on the Hausa word dutse, meaning rock or stone, an element that appears in many place names across a region shaped by granite hills.
The town serves as a market centre for surrounding farming communities, and its layout reflects the patterns of northern Nigerian settlements: a dense core of compound houses separated by narrow lanes, with wider roads connecting to the market and to neighbouring towns. Newer building extends outward in straighter plots along the main routes.
A Dutsen Wai map poster reduces that structure to its essentials. The compact core becomes a close texture of short lines, the roads leaving town form clear radiating strokes, and the open farmland around gives the design room to breathe. It is an honest portrait of a working town, drawn at the scale of its streets.
The older part of town is built from family compounds packed closely together, creating a dense, irregular pattern at the centre of the map.
Wider roads lead to the market and out toward neighbouring settlements, giving the composition a set of clear directional lines.
Farmland, tracks and seasonal watercourses spread across the open countryside, leaving a light, spacious field around the town on the finished print.
