Te mapa
Ebute Ikorodu lies on the north-eastern side of Lagos Lagoon, within the wider Ikorodu area of Lagos State. The water forms its southern edge. From above, the town shows a dense pattern of streets running back from the lagoon shore. Creeks, low wetland and patches of vegetation break up the pattern, and the built-up area has grown around them rather than over them.
Main roads connect the area with central Lagos and with towns further inland. They form the strongest lines on the map, with smaller streets branching off in irregular patterns, and newer neighbourhoods extend outward along these routes. The fine texture of the residential streets against the broad, empty surface of the lagoon gives the poster a strong composition.
The Ikorodu area has grown quickly as part of greater Lagos, drawing residents who commute across the city by road and, increasingly, by water. An Ebute Ikorodu map poster records a place that is still changing, showing the shoreline, the road corridors and the neighbourhoods as they stand today.
Lagos Lagoon forms the southern edge of the map. Its wide expanse of open water frames the town and contrasts with the dense street pattern inland.
Narrow creeks and patches of low, wet ground break up the neighbourhoods near the water. They leave irregular green gaps within the built-up area.
Main roads toward central Lagos and the inland towns cut through the area in strong lines. Newer neighbourhoods extend outward along them.
