Te mapa
El Hatillo is a municipality on the southeastern edge of metropolitan Caracas, in Miranda state. Its map looks nothing like a gridded capital. Roads follow the contours of steep hills, curling around ridges and dropping into valleys, and homes sit in clusters wherever the slopes allow. Broad patches of green remain between them, giving the map a scattered, organic texture.
At the heart of the municipality is the historic town of El Hatillo, founded in the late eighteenth century. Its small grid of streets around a central plaza and church is lined with colourful single-storey houses, and it is one of the best-preserved colonial centres in the Caracas area. On the map it forms a tight, regular knot among the curves around it.
The old town draws visitors from Caracas for its restaurants, craft shops and cooler hillside air. An El Hatillo map poster captures the contrast that defines the place: the compact old core, the hill roads spreading outward in loops, and the green spaces in between. The lines are restrained so the shape of the hills shows through the street pattern.
The old town centre is laid out around a main square and church, forming a small, regular grid. It stands out clearly against the winding roads around it.
Streets loop and switch back across the slopes, tracing the shape of the land. On the poster these curves create a flowing pattern very different from central Caracas.
Wooded hillsides and ravines separate the residential areas. They leave pale open space on the sheet and make each cluster of streets read as a shape of its own.

Koteā ko El Hatillo
El Hatillo means something to many people from Caracas: a weekend outing, a family home or a first apartment. For Venezuelans living abroad, a map of these hills can be a thoughtful reminder of the old town and its plaza.
