Te mapa
Encinitas stretches along the North County coast of San Diego, a narrow ribbon of neighbourhoods squeezed between the Pacific and the inland hills. From above, a few parallel lines stand out: the shoreline and its bluffs, the old Coast Highway 101, the railway alongside it and, farther inland, Interstate 5. Almost everything in town is arranged along this north–south axis.
The city is really several communities: Leucadia to the north, Old Encinitas around the downtown stretch of 101, Cardiff-by-the-Sea to the south, and the larger residential areas of New Encinitas and Olivenhain on the hills to the east. Batiquitos Lagoon marks the northern edge and San Elijo Lagoon the southern, so the map comes with water at both ends.
An Encinitas map poster usually centres on the coast, where Swami's surf break sits below the Self-Realization Fellowship grounds and their golden lotus towers, and Moonlight Beach opens at the foot of the downtown streets. Inland, curving cul-de-sacs and canyon roads fill the eastern half of the frame with a very different, softer texture.
Batiquitos Lagoon to the north and San Elijo Lagoon to the south frame the city with irregular wetland shapes, giving the composition natural edges.
The historic highway runs just inland from the bluffs, tracking the railway through Leucadia, downtown and Cardiff, the main spine of coastal life.
The bluff below the Self-Realization Fellowship is one of California's best-known surf spots, a small bend in the coastline that surfers will recognise immediately.

Koteā ko Encinitas
Encinitas is a place people choose deliberately: for the surf, the lagoon trails, the slower pace of the 101 corridor. A map on the wall keeps that stretch of coast close, whether you still live there or moved inland years ago.
Title it Leucadia, Cardiff or Swami's, add the date you arrived, and pick one of five styles. Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand all work well with coastal light. It is available as a $9 HD file or a printed poster.
