Te mapa
Epe lies on the eastern side of the Veluwe, the largest wooded area in the Netherlands. On the map this position shows clearly: to the west the town gives way to forest, heath and sandy tracks, while to the east the land drops towards the IJssel valley, with farmland, drainage ditches and straight country roads. The town sits right on this boundary.
The municipality includes Epe itself, Vaassen, Emst and Oene, each a separate cluster of streets spread along the edge of the woods. In Vaassen, Kasteel De Cannenburch shows up as a moated site. The Apeldoorn Canal runs north through the area, a long straight line of water marking the edge of the lower land.
Epe is known as a place for walking and cycling, with campsites, holiday parks and paths spread throughout the forest. An Epe map poster captures the contrast at the heart of the place: thin, winding forest trails on one side and the ordered rural grid on the other.
West of town, forest and heath fill the map with fine, winding paths and few streets, a very different texture from the built-up centre.
The canal runs north through the municipality as a long, straight line of water, marking where the higher sandy ground meets the lower farmland.
Epe, Vaassen and Emst sit one after another along the forest edge, forming a chain of separate street clusters linked by roads.

Koteā ko Epe
Epe appeals to residents, to people who spent childhood holidays at a Veluwe campsite, and to cyclists who know its forest paths well. The map shows where the woods end and the fields begin.
