Te mapa
Eravattūr is a settlement in Kozhikode district, in northern Kerala. Like much of the Malabar countryside, it does not have a single dense centre so much as a spread of houses, shops and institutions along roads, each set in its own garden among coconut palms and other trees.
From above, the map shows a network of winding roads and lanes linking these homesteads, with small junctions acting as local centres. Paddy fields and low-lying land form open strips between areas of higher ground, and streams and ponds add small watery details to the pattern.
A Eravattūr map poster shows this distinctive Kerala form of settlement, where the line between village and town is soft. In black and white, the curving lanes and open fields create a delicate, balanced composition, far removed from the dense grids of large cities.
Narrow roads curve between homesteads and gardens, forming an organic web that connects houses across the area rather than a single dense core.
Open strips of low-lying fields run between higher ground, showing on the map as calm spaces between clusters of roads and buildings.
Small road junctions act as everyday centres for shops and services, appearing as points where several lanes meet in the network.
