Te mapa
Estahbān lies in Fars province in southern Iran, on the lower slopes of the Zagros mountains, south of Lake Bakhtegan. The town is famous across Iran and beyond for its rainfed figs, which grow in large orchards on the surrounding hillsides without irrigation. From above, those orchards appear as a pattern of dotted terraces and paths that climb away from the town.
The centre of Estahbān is compact and irregular, with older lanes that follow the terrain and newer avenues that cut straighter lines through the town. The mountains close in on one side and open out toward the plain on the other, so the built-up area forms an elongated shape along the foot of the slope.
An Estahbān map poster combines the density of an old Persian town with the rough, textured land around it. In black and white, the lanes of the centre, the main roads and the fine lines of orchard tracks create a detailed, layered picture. It is a fitting tribute to a place whose name is closely associated with one crop.
Rainfed fig groves cover the slopes around the town. Their tracks and terraces give the edges of the poster a fine, textured pattern.
The historic core has narrow, winding lanes that follow the ground, forming the densest part of the map.
The town stretches along the base of the Zagros slopes, giving it an elongated shape between the hills and the open plain.
