Te mapa
Bandar Abbas stretches along the northern shore of the Strait of Hormuz, the narrow passage that links the Persian Gulf with the Gulf of Oman. Because steep, dry mountains rise close behind the coast, the city has grown sideways rather than inland, and on a map it appears as a long east–west band of streets parallel to the shoreline.
Offshore, the large island of Qeshm and the smaller island of Hormuz sit within sight of the waterfront, giving the composition a scattering of shapes to the south. Along the coast, harbour basins and breakwaters mark the city's role as Iran's principal port, with the container terminals lying to the west of the older centre.
The city takes its name from Shah Abbas I, who captured the nearby island of Hormuz from the Portuguese in 1622, with English help, and developed this harbour, earlier known as Gamrun. A Bandar Abbas map poster traces a coastline shaped by centuries of trade and still defined by shipping today.
The coastline runs almost straight for kilometres, and the city's main roads follow it closely, giving the map a strong horizontal rhythm set against open water.
Two islands lie off the coast, Qeshm long and low, Hormuz small and rounded, and depending on the framing they add solid forms to the sea below the city.
Port basins, jetties and breakwaters extend into the strait, drawn as sharp geometric lines that contrast with the softer, irregular streets of the older quarters.

Koteā ko Bandar Abbas
Bandar Abbas means something specific to people who work at the port, sail from its harbour or have family in Hormozgan. A map of its coast makes a considered gift, with a title and date you choose, perhaps the year of a voyage or a homecoming.
Pick from Classic black and white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand; Blueprint suits the maritime subject especially well. The $9 digital files cover six print sizes, from A3 to 24×36″, each as a 300 DPI PNG and a print-ready PDF.
