Te mapa
Falun, in the Swedish province of Dalarna, grew around one of the most important copper mines in European history. The Falu copper mine and the surrounding mining landscape are a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and the waste from the mine gave its name to Falu red, the deep red paint that colours wooden houses across Sweden.
On the map the Great Pit, the huge open cavity left by centuries of mining, sits just west of the town centre as an irregular hollow among the streets. The small Faluån river runs through the centre, linking Lake Varpan on one side with Lake Runn on the other, so water frames the town to both the west and the southeast.
A Falun map poster brings together the mine, the older wooden districts and the lakes in one clear image. North of town the Lugnet sports area, with its ski jumps, adds another recognisable shape. In black and white the combination of water, mining ground and tight streets reads as unmistakably Falun.

The Faluån flows through the middle of Falun, connecting Lake Varpan with Lake Runn. Its short course gives the centre a natural axis and links the two lakes on the map.
On the northern edge of town the Lugnet sports area, known for its ski jumps and cross-country trails, appears as a distinct cluster set into the wooded slope.

Koteā ko Falun
A map of Falun suits anyone with roots in Dalarna, students from the university and those who have skied or watched races at Lugnet. The pit, river and lakes make the town recognisable at a glance.
You can personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line, and choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Paper and Sand suit the wooden houses of the old mining districts particularly well.
