Te mapa
Francisco Morato lies on the northern edge of the São Paulo metropolitan region, in the hilly country north of the capital. On a map the city is almost entirely residential, a dense web of short streets that bend around hilltops and drop into valleys, with few straight avenues. The grain is fine and intricate, typical of neighbourhoods that grew quickly on uneven land.
The railway is the city's backbone. CPTM Line 7-Ruby runs through Francisco Morato on its way between São Paulo and Jundiaí, and the station area forms the clearest centre in an otherwise evenly spread urban fabric. For many residents the line is the daily route into the capital, and its long curve is one of the strongest features on the sheet.
The municipality takes its name from Francisco Morato, a São Paulo jurist and politician. Around its edges, patches of green and remnant forest press in on the built-up area. A Francisco Morato map poster turns that tight street pattern and the curve of the railway into a detailed drawing with an almost woven texture.
The commuter line to São Paulo and Jundiaí runs through the city in a long curve, forming a clean line across the dense residential pattern and marking the station district.
Streets wind around hills and spurs rather than following a grid, so the city reads as clusters of tightly knit loops and dead ends shaped entirely by the terrain.
Wooded slopes and open land border the urban area, leaving pockets of white space that frame the densely built neighbourhoods and hint at the hills beyond.
