Valley-bound streets
The town's streets stay mostly on lower ground, stretching along the valley rather than climbing the slopes. This gives the built-up area a long, slightly irregular outline.

Te mapa
Gao’an lies in the eastern part of Chongqing municipality, in the hilly country east of the Sichuan Basin's centre. The landscape here is shaped by long parallel ridges running roughly northeast to southwest, with farmland and villages in the valleys between them. On a map, that grain shows through clearly: roads and streets bend to follow the land rather than cutting across it.
The town itself is compact, with a core of streets around its main road and newer blocks spreading along the valley floor. Around it, small fields, terraces and hamlets fill the gaps between the hills. A Gao’an map poster keeps these details in fine lines, so the town appears as a dense knot within a much wider rural pattern.
Places like Gao’an rarely appear on maps sold as souvenirs, which is part of their appeal. The poster is not about famous sights. It is about one valley and the way people have settled in it, a shape that is familiar to anyone who grew up there and new to everyone else.
The town's streets stay mostly on lower ground, stretching along the valley rather than climbing the slopes. This gives the built-up area a long, slightly irregular outline.
Parallel ridges are typical of this part of Chongqing. Even at town scale, roads curving around the hillsides reveal the terrain without any shading or contour lines.
Beyond the centre, a fine web of lanes links outlying hamlets and fields. These scattered lines give the margins of the poster a delicate texture that contrasts with the dense core.

Koteā ko Gao’an
For families with roots in Gao’an, or those who moved from the countryside to larger cities, a map of the town is a way of keeping home in view. It is personal and specific in a way that a Chongqing skyline print could never be.
