Lizhi Map Poster & Print
Lizhi is part of the urban area of Fuling in Chongqing, in the steep, folded terrain of the upper Yangtze region. Very little of the ground here is flat. Streets curve along contours, switch back up slopes and follow ridgelines, so the plan is irregular and closely tied to the hills underneath.
Fuling is known as the place where the Wu River joins the Yangtze, and water runs through the geography of the whole area. The region is also known across China for zha cai, the pickled mustard tuber produced here in large quantities, and for the Baiheliang inscriptions, ancient low-water marks carved into a riverside rock.
A Lizhi map poster shows a city that has adapted to its terrain: winding roads, dense clusters of towers on the flatter ground, and green slopes left empty between them. It is a very different image from the grid cities of the plains.
