Gaojia is a town in the Chongqing municipality, in the hilly country of the Sichuan Basin's eastern edge. The terrain here is steep and broken, and settlements tend to follow valley floors and gentler slopes. On the map this produces streets that curve and branch rather than run straight, with built-up areas stretched along the lie of the land.
