Te mapa
Gbarnga is the capital of Bong County in central Liberia, a market town in green, gently hilly country. On a map it appears as a crossroads. The main highway running north from Monrovia towards Guinea passes through it, and smaller roads branch off to villages, farms and neighbouring counties. The town has grown along these routes rather than in a regular grid.
Around the town lies a mix of forest, farmland and small settlements, crossed by streams. The street pattern is informal and organic. A denser commercial centre sits near the main road, and residential areas spread outward along lanes and paths. Open ground and greenery fill much of the map towards its edges.
Gbarnga played a prominent role during Liberia's civil war. Today it is an important regional centre for trade and education, with Cuttington University nearby. A Gbarnga map poster offers a quiet picture of the town as it is now: roads converging on a centre, and the green country of Bong County opening up around it.
The main road from Monrovia crosses the map as its strongest line. Branch roads fan out from it towards other towns and the rural areas of Bong County.
The commercial heart of the town gathers near the highway. Its streets and lanes spread outward in an irregular pattern that grew from everyday use rather than planning.
Beyond the built-up area, open land, streams and scattered settlements create a soft, sparse texture that gives the poster generous breathing space.

Koteā ko Gbarnga
For Liberians at home and in the diaspora, and for anyone who studied or worked in Bong County, a map of Gbarnga is a way to hold onto a specific place. It also works well as a gift for family members living abroad.
Personalise the title, add a subtitle such as a family name or year, and keep the coordinates line. Choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Paper and Sand give the town's organic streets a warm, gentle finish.
