Te mapa
Germantown is a large unincorporated community in Montgomery County, Maryland, northwest of Washington, D.C. From above, it has the typical pattern of a planned suburb. Loops, crescents and cul-de-sacs branch off a few collector roads, and Interstate 270 runs through the area as a firm diagonal.
Much of Germantown's shape comes from its streams. Seneca Creek and its tributaries run through wooded valleys that break the neighbourhoods apart. To the northwest, Black Hill Regional Park surrounds Little Seneca Lake, whose branching shoreline is one of the most distinctive features on the map.
Germantown grew mainly in the late twentieth century as a planned community of residential villages around a town centre. A MARC commuter rail station links it to the capital. A Germantown map poster presents the pattern of loops, the highway line and the green stream corridors as one balanced drawing.
The reservoir inside Black Hill Regional Park has a branching shoreline of coves. It adds an organic shape at the edge of the suburban street pattern.
The interstate runs straight through the community. Its double line and interchanges give the drawing a strong axis.
The wooded corridors along Seneca Creek separate one cluster of streets from the next, leaving calm open bands across the map.
