Te mapa
Gibara lies on Cuba's north-east coast in Holguín Province, on the shore of the Bay of Gibara. The town is compact and faces the water, with a regular grid of streets running up from the seafront. Its whitewashed houses earned it the nickname Villa Blanca, the white town.
Behind the town, the flat-topped hill known as the Silla de Gibara is a familiar landmark on the horizon. Gibara is also known in the film world as the home of an international festival of low-budget cinema founded by the director Humberto Solás. Its colonial buildings and quiet streets make it one of the more distinctive small towns on the coast.
A Gibara map poster shows a town defined by its bay. The sheltered water, the coastline curving away on either side and the neat blocks of the old town make a clear and balanced composition. It is a thoughtful keepsake of the Cuban north coast.
The bay forms a broad, sheltered curve beside the town, giving the map a strong coastal outline and a wide area of open water.
The old town is arranged in regular blocks running up from the waterfront, a tidy pattern typical of Spanish colonial towns in Cuba.
Streets end at the shoreline along the bay, where the town meets the water in a clear line that frames the composition from one side.

Koteā ko Gibara
For Cubans abroad and for travellers who have walked its streets, Gibara is a place that stays in the memory. A map of the town is a restrained, personal way to keep it close.
The title, subtitle and coordinates line can be personalised with a name, a date or a short phrase, and the map comes in five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand.
