Te mapa
Gondia lies in the far east of Maharashtra, close to the borders with Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. The town grew around an important railway junction. On a map the Howrah–Mumbai line and other branches cut across its streets and draw long, straight divisions between neighbourhoods. The older centre is compact, with markets and narrow lanes near the station.
The surrounding region is known for rice, and Gondia is often called the Rice City because of its many rice mills. Beyond the edge of town the land is flat and green and dotted with small irrigation tanks. On the map these appear as rounded patches of water among fields and villages, giving the outskirts an unusually speckled look.
The wider district includes forests and wildlife areas such as Nagzira and Navegaon, while Gondia itself remains a busy trading town. A Gondiā map poster shows the rail lines, the dense old centre and the ring of water bodies around it, a pattern specific to this corner of Vidarbha.
Several rail lines meet at Gondia and cross the town in long straight strokes. They divide the neighbourhoods and give the map a strong structure.
Near the station, the old town forms a tight grid of lanes, markets and small blocks. It is the densest part of the composition.
Small lakes and reservoirs dot the farmland around the town. This scattered pattern of water is characteristic of eastern Maharashtra.
