Te mapa
Gori is in the Shida Kartli region of central Georgia, where the Liakhvi River flows into the Mtkvari, known elsewhere as the Kura. A rocky hill rises in the middle of the town, crowned by Gori Fortress, and the streets spread around its base. From above, the two rivers frame the town on the south and east, and the main highway between Tbilisi and western Georgia passes nearby.
Gori is the birthplace of Joseph Stalin, and the town's museum about him, with the small house where he was born, is one of its best-known sites. A few kilometres east is Uplistsikhe, an ancient rock-cut town carved into a cliff above the Mtkvari. The surrounding plain is known for orchards, especially apples.
A Gori map poster brings together hill, rivers and streets in one compact frame. The fortress hill forms an irregular island at the centre, the rivers curve along the edges, and the town's main avenues lead across the valley. The map shows how a defensive hill and a river junction shaped a town that has stood at an important crossroads for centuries.

The Liakhvi meets the Mtkvari at the town's edge. Their two curves frame the southern and eastern sides of the map.
The main highway and railway between Tbilisi and western Georgia pass Gori, drawing long lines across the broad Kartli valley.

Koteā ko Gori
Gori suits Georgians at home and abroad, travellers heading to Uplistsikhe, and anyone with a strong interest in the history of the South Caucasus. The fortress hill and river junction give the map a natural focal point that feels like a landscape as much as a plan.
