Great Sankey Map Poster & Print
Great Sankey lies on the western side of Warrington in Cheshire. Much of it was built as residential estates in the late twentieth century, and from above the area shows the typical pattern of that period: curving distributor roads with short closes and crescents branching off them, broken up by school fields and green strips.
The Sankey Brook and the old Sankey Canal run nearby. Opened in the 1750s, the canal is often described as one of the first canals of the English industrial era. Today its towpath and the Sankey Valley Park form a long green corridor that crosses the map.
