Gustavsberg lies on Värmdö, east of Stockholm, where the Farstaviken bay pushes inland and ends in a small harbour. From above, the bay reads as a long pale finger of water. The town gathers at its tip, and rocky, forested land rises on either side. Roads follow the shoreline and the dips between granite outcrops rather than any regular grid, so the map has the loose, organic look of the archipelago.
The town grew around its porcelain factory, founded in the nineteenth century. Gustavsberg porcelain became one of Sweden's best-known ceramic brands, and the old factory quarter by the harbour still anchors the centre. On a map, that waterfront cluster of former industrial blocks sits apart from the newer residential streets, which curve up and away into the woods.
A Gustavsberg map poster shows the line where Stockholm's suburbs give way to the islands. Built-up areas thin out into fragments of shore, inlets and small islands, and the heavy black of the water begins to take over the sheet. Because of that balance between settlement and sea, the print works well even at the larger sizes.
A narrow inlet that runs right into the town centre and ends at the harbour, giving the whole map a strong central axis of water.
The former factory area by the harbour, where Gustavsberg porcelain was made, forms a compact block of older buildings at the water's edge.
Toward the edges of the frame, jagged shorelines, small islands and inlets break up the land, typical of the Stockholm archipelago.

Koteā ko Gustavsberg
For people who grew up on Värmdö, keep a summer house nearby or once worked in the porcelain town, this bay is a familiar shape. It is quieter than a city-centre map and more personal, with a composition built around water, rock and a single harbour.
You can add your own title, a subtitle such as a year or family name, and a coordinates line. Choose from five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand. Noir and Blueprint suit the dark expanse of the archipelago especially well.
