Te mapa
Hannō lies in south-western Saitama Prefecture, where the Kantō Plain meets the forested hills that lead toward Chichibu, about an hour by train from Ikebukuro. The city's map has two faces: a compact urban centre around the station and the river, and a vast western area of steep, wooded mountains where only narrow roads and small villages follow the valleys.
The Iruma River flows past the centre in a series of curves, with wide gravel banks popular for summer barbecues and swimming. Above the town rises Tenranzan, a small hill with views across the plain toward Tokyo. Hannō Station is known for its switchback: trains on the Seibu Ikebukuro Line reverse direction here, a detail that shows clearly in the track layout.
Much of the municipality is covered by forest, and the city presents itself as a town of forest culture. By Lake Miyazawa, the Moomin Valley Park, inspired by Tove Jansson's stories, sits among trees at the water's edge. A Hannō map poster shows the city's shift from dense streets to open woodland, a view of Tokyo's edge that feels unexpectedly calm.
The river curves past the centre in broad loops, its wide banks and gravel beaches giving the map a soft, flowing line through the town.
Tracks enter Hannō Station and leave in the direction they came, a rare terminal-style junction that stands out among the railway lines on the map.
West of the centre, wooded mountains fill most of the municipality, with narrow valley roads and scattered hamlets drawn as fine, delicate lines.

Koteā ko Hannō
Hannō is a place of weekend hikes, river afternoons and quiet commutes, and for many it is where Tokyo life meets the forest. The map's balance of town and mountain works beautifully in the Paper or Sand style.
Personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line, and choose one of five styles. The $9 HD files include six sizes, among them 30×40 cm and A2, and printed posters on matte paper can be ordered with an optional wooden frame.
