Te mapa
Hesperia sits in the Victor Valley of California's Mojave Desert, at the top of the Cajon Pass. The San Bernardino Mountains rise to the south. The city was laid out on a huge rectangular grid for desert lots, and from above its streets spread across open ground with wide gaps between them, some still little more than dirt roads.
Two lines mark the city's edges. Interstate 15 runs along the western side toward the pass and Los Angeles. On the east, the Mojave River runs north in a sandy, often dry channel lined with trees. Between them lies a wide rectangle of streets that grows sparser toward the edges.
A Hesperia map poster captures desert planning in plain lines. The grid is both orderly and unfinished: dense near the centre, broken up and scattered at the fringes. Hesperia Lake Park adds a rare body of water. The empty spaces are as much a part of the design as the streets.
The long, straight streets divide the valley into large blocks. Toward the outer edges the grid thins into sparse lines across open land.
The river runs along the city's eastern side, usually dry at the surface. Its meandering course is the one natural curve in a mostly rectilinear map.
The freeway runs along the western edge toward the Cajon Pass. Its broad sweeping curve contrasts with the right angles of the grid.

Koteā ko Hesperia
Hesperia is a place of big skies and open ground. A map of its grid reflects that spaciousness and suits a clean, minimal wall, especially for anyone who has lived in or moved to the high desert.
Change the title, subtitle and coordinates to mark a home, a street or a year. Then choose among five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand. Sand is a natural fit for the desert.
