Te mapa
Hinigaran lies on the western coast of Negros Island, in the province of Negros Occidental, between the sea and broad plains that rise gently toward the island's interior. The town centre follows the familiar Philippine pattern: a plaza, church and municipal hall surrounded by a grid of streets, set a short distance back from the shoreline.
This part of Negros is sugar country, and the land around Hinigaran is dominated by large cane fields divided by farm roads. The national highway along the coast passes through town, linking it with Bacolod to the north and the towns of the south of the province. It is the strongest line on the map.
A Hinigaran map poster sets the orderly centre against two very different edges: the irregular shoreline and river mouths on one side, and the geometric fields of the old haciendas on the other. Rivers and creeks cut across toward the sea and add natural curves to a composition otherwise made of straight lines.
The core is arranged in a regular grid around the church and plaza. This compact block of streets stands out clearly against the open land around it.
The shore forms a long natural boundary, with creeks and rivers reaching the sea, which adds soft, irregular lines to one side of the poster.
Inland, sugarcane fields and hacienda roads divide the land into large rectangular parcels, giving the eastern side of the map a quiet, measured pattern.

Koteā ko Hinigaran
Hinigaran families live across Bacolod, Manila and many countries abroad, and a map of the town is a clear, personal link to home. The minimal style keeps the focus on the streets and shoreline people remember.
