Te mapa
Kabankalan is one of the largest cities by land area in Negros Occidental, and on a map most of it is open countryside. The urban centre is relatively small, a compact grid of streets around the plaza and market, while the rest of the city is made up of farmland, rural villages and roads.
Rivers cross the lowlands toward the sea, and the main highway links the city with coastal towns and with routes over the island's interior. To the east the land rises toward the mountainous centre of Negros, and settlement thins out along the slopes.
The surrounding plains are largely given over to sugarcane, the crop that has long shaped the economy of Negros. The city is also known for its Sinulog de Kabankalan festival each January. A Kabankalan map poster shows the compact town centre within its broad agricultural landscape.
A small, regular grid of streets forms the town centre, clearly defined against the rural land that surrounds it on every side.
Rivers cross the plains on their way to the sea, drawing curving lines through fields and linking scattered villages.
Toward the east, the land lifts toward the mountains of Negros, where roads narrow and settlements become more sparse.
