Te mapa
Huai'an lies on the flat plain of northern Jiangsu, and its map is organised by water. The Grand Canal runs through the city, joined by other canals and old river channels that divide it into distinct sections. Streets fall into broad, fairly regular blocks across the level ground, with the older districts marked by tighter, less orderly patterns.
The city stands close to where the Grand Canal historically met the Huai River system, and for centuries this made it an important point for managing canal traffic and grain transport. To the west, Hongze Lake, one of China's largest freshwater lakes, spreads across the landscape, although it lies beyond the dense urban area.
Huai'an is the birthplace of Zhou Enlai, the first premier of the People's Republic, and is associated with Wu Cheng'en, the author of Journey to the West. A Huai'an map poster captures a quietly structured city where canals and old river courses set the lines that roads later followed.
The canal runs through the city as a strong continuous line, the main organising feature of Huai'an's map and a reminder of its role in historic canal transport.
Several canals and river channels run near one another through the city, creating a layered pattern of water lines that gives the map an unusual rhythm.
With almost no hills, the city's streets spread evenly outward, producing a calm, even texture that works well in a minimal print.

Koteā ko Huai'an
Huai'an is not always on the list of famous Chinese cities, which makes a map of it a personal choice. For someone born there or with family in the city, it marks a specific home rather than a well-known destination.
