Te mapa
Hualien City lies on the east coast of Taiwan, on a strip of flat land between the Pacific Ocean and the steep wall of the Central Mountain Range. From above, its streets form a largely orthogonal grid, laid out partly during the Japanese colonial period. The grid runs up to the shoreline, and the mountains rise a short distance inland.
The Meilun River flows through the city to the sea. The coast here is a long line of pebble beaches facing open ocean, with the curved bay of Qixingtan just to the north. The harbour and port areas add sharp geometric shapes to the waterfront on the city's eastern edge.
Hualien is the main gateway to Taroko Gorge, one of Taiwan's best-known landscapes. It also lies in a very active seismic zone and has been through several strong earthquakes. A Hualien City map poster captures a place defined by its edges: the ocean on one side, the mountains on the other, and the grid between them.
The coast runs in a long, clean line along the eastern side of the city. Pebble beaches and the harbour break it up at intervals.
The river crosses the city on its way to the ocean. It draws a soft, curving line through the regular grid of streets.
Just north of the city, this broad crescent of pebble beach makes a well-known curve on Taiwan's east coast, and it is easy to include in a wider frame.

Koteā ko Hualien City
Visitors who come for Taroko and the coast often stay in Hualien, and many who grew up here have moved to Taipei or abroad. A map poster keeps the grid, the river and the long Pacific shore close at hand.
Personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line with a date, a name or a short dedication, and choose from five styles, from Classic black & white to Blueprint. Download the $9 HD files or order a printed poster with an optional wooden frame.
