Te mapa
Ilioúpoli is a suburb in south-eastern Athens, on the lower western slopes of Mount Hymettus. Its name means city of the sun. On a map, the eastern edge of the built-up area is very clear. The streets end where the mountainside begins, and the pale open ground of Hymettus takes over.
Most of the suburb grew in the twentieth century as Athens expanded outward. Its streets are mostly laid out in a regular grid of residential blocks and small squares. To the west it merges seamlessly with neighbouring suburbs, and to the east winding roads climb up toward the mountain.
An Ilioúpoli map poster is defined by this contrast. One side of the composition is dense urban fabric that continues into the rest of Athens, and the other is the open mountain. Seen from above, the neighbourhood looks like a city stopped mid-climb, with the grid thinning out as the land rises.
The mountain bounds the suburb to the east. On the map, its open slopes form a large, quiet area against which the street grid stops.
Most of Ilioúpoli follows a regular pattern of blocks and small squares. It gives the map an even texture that continues into the neighbouring suburbs.
At the upper edge of the suburb, the streets begin to bend with the contours of the hillside before giving way to the mountain.

Koteā ko Ilioúpoli
Ilioúpoli is the kind of place people call home for decades, and the map gives that everyday neighbourhood a place on the wall. The strong edge where the grid meets Hymettus makes it look deliberate and composed.
You can personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line, whether you keep the Greek name or add a date. There are five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand. Paper is a good match for the Attic light.
