Te mapa
Innsbruck occupies a broad, flat section of the Inn valley in western Austria, and mountains rise almost directly from its edges. The Nordkette range forms a wall to the north, while to the south the land climbs toward the Wipptal and the Brenner route to Italy. The river runs east to west through the city, and the medieval old town sits on its southern bank beside the crossing that gave Innsbruck its name.
The Golden Roof, a late-Gothic balcony covered with gilded copper tiles, marks the heart of the old town and was built for Emperor Maximilian I around 1500. Innsbruck hosted the Winter Olympics in 1964 and 1976, and the Bergisel ski jump, rebuilt to a design by Zaha Hadid, still overlooks the city from the south.
An Innsbruck map poster shows a city defined by its valley. The Inn curves through the centre, motorways and railways follow the valley floor, and the streets stop where the slopes begin, leaving the mountains as open space around the edges. The compact old town appears as a tight knot of lanes beside the river.
The Inn crosses the city in a gentle curve, with several bridges linking the old town to the northern districts at the foot of the Nordkette.
A small, dense cluster of narrow lanes and courtyards on the river's south bank, clearly set apart from the wider streets of the later city.
Built-up areas end abruptly at the steep slopes, so the map's outline mirrors the shape of the valley and leaves broad white areas where the mountains rise.

Koteā ko Innsbruck
Innsbruck is a city of students, skiers and climbers, and many people carry it with them long after a semester or a winter season. The map's strong valley outline gives it presence even on a small wall.
Personalise the title and subtitle, perhaps with a season or a summit, and set the coordinates line. Choose among Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand, then download HD files for $9 or order a printed poster.
